The Tanglewood is a mixed-use development in historic buildings on the Versailles Courthouse Square, featuring a boutique hotel, event venue, and certified kitchen. It serves as a destination for weddings, reunions, corporate events, and more, while also providing hotel accommodations for visitors to Versailles and surrounding communities—including the 315,000 annual visitors to Versailles State Park.

Before The Tanglewood opened in late 2024, Versailles lacked both hotel accommodations and a dedicated event space, despite being home to Indiana’s second-largest state park. As a designated “hotel desert,” the nearest lodging options are 30 miles away unless guests’ camp.

The Tanglewood fills this need for park visitors as well as guests attending festivals, holidays, funerals, and court in Versailles. The venue also addresses the need for a local event space. Located in the heart of the historic district, it offers a prime setting with walkable access to downtown and nearby amenities.

A certified kitchen was built as part of Phase 1 to serve both the venue and the wider community, providing rentable space for local food entrepreneurs, bakers, and caterers.

Phase 1 included six hotel rooms and event space for over 200 guests. Phase 2 includes the build-out of five additional hotel rooms and enhancements to event and storage spaces.
